October 10, 2016

#InstaKC Captures is a new blog series that highlights some of the most photogenic sights in Kansas City. From iconic monuments to lesser known gems, we tour the city in search of some of the best places to take a snapshot.

This week we visit the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. A giant spider! A crying giant! Tap into your imagination with shots around the free museum of contemporary art, right off the Country Club Plaza

Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art

Tap into your imagination with shots around the free museum of contemporary art, right off the Country Club Plaza.

The free museum, known for its national acclaim and wonderful collection, features several outdoor sculptures, including the iconic Giant Spider

There there, big guy

Almost equally as iconic is Crying Giant, a striking bronze piece on the west end of the museum's lawn. The 11-foot-tall giant puts a cartoonish spin on Auguste Rodin's timeless masterpiece, The Thinker.

Somber yet photographic, Crying Giant makes for an excellent addition to any photo collection.

Step inside to Cafe Sebastienne for contemporary cuisine fittingly accompanied by decorative paintings that burst with color. Open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday and dinner Thursday and Friday, be sure not to miss the chance to eat at this hidden gem.

(Pro tip: Check out the Sunday brunch. You won't be disappointed.)
