The Carter Art Center Gallery features rotating exhibits that educate, challenge and inspire, including works by students, local, national and international artists.
In March 2003, MCC-Penn Valley Community College dedicated the Anna & Kemper Carter Center for the Visual Arts and Imaging Technology. This beautiful structure provides a large gallery exhibit space and classrooms, computer labs and fine art studios. Next door is a quiet space dedicated to Anna Carter to retreat and enjoy works by artist like Arthur Kraft and Vicki Leon called Anna's Room. Outside, a stainless steel sculpture by Rita Blitt, Black Box VII:Aspects of Nature II, is permanently installed.
The Carter Art Gallery provides a place for the community to gather to celebrate and enjoy the visual arts. The Carter Art Center provides quality arts education to students in midtown Kansas City, preparing them to transfer to baccalaureate institutions. It provides employers with workers who are well prepared for jobs such as graphic designers and digital prepress technicians.
The Friends of the Carter Art Center are an exciting group to join. Friend members are invited to special preview exhibits and special events. For information on becoming a Friend of the Carter Art Center call 816-759-1195
