Independence -- where the three trails began, two Civil War battles where fought and where a President made his march to The White House. See Independence as a pioneer would, by mule-drawn covered wagon. Pioneer Adventures are unique and compliment without duplicating other historic sites.

However short your schedule or limited your budget, we have a tour for you. We offer excursions as brief as 15 minutes and as long as an hour in an authentic covered wagon train for groups of 2 to 52.

Learn why the most famous outlaw in the world stayed in a cell that was never locked. Discover how a painting destroyed a mighty general. Find out how "Wild Bill" got into Hickock's name.

Roll past the courthouse that Mr. Truman built, the business where he first worked, the home where his future wife was born, the church where he met her and the house they shared for most of their adult lives. Learn why some people think the Truman Statue is inappropriate.

Ride over the very wagon ruts pioneer wagons burrowed into the ground. Climb Cannon Hill, scene of the climatic Civil War battle in the West. Find out how an earlier Union army was surprised and destroyed.

With reservations, Pioneer Trails Adventures offers a full Chuck Wagon dinner beside an open campfire and live entertainment. Contact us for your next picnic, birthday party, reunion or social event.

At Pioneer Trails, we believe you deserve more than just a ride. Come live the history and see how the West was won. Visit us and you won't be disappointed.

Great story and view of Independence!

5 out of 5 stars

Jeff and Jeana W. - Seattle, WA

My wife and I were touring around Independence with a very limited amount of time to take in the plethora of history the town has to offer. Pioneer Trails Adventures came to our rescue and gave us an outstanding opportunity to take in the sights, learn the history and enjoy the ride! In just over an hour we rode in a covered wagon through the streets of Independence where we could get up close and personal with civil war battlefields, historic homes of former President Harry Truman and even follow the route out of Independence that the pioneers took on their way west. Best of all, the commentary that accompanied our tour was entertaining and thoughtful, full of details but easily understood. As a high school history teacher, I found the tour guide to be extremely knowledgeable about the context of the town of Independence and beyond. We were very pleased with our service and would gladly recommend it to anyone visiting the Kansas City or Independence areas!
