Kansas City's premier retail, dining and entertainment destination, offering 180 shops and dozens of fine restaurants nestled within old-world architecture.
The Plaza spends seven weeks each winter dressed up in jewel-colored lights. More than 80 miles of holiday lights outline every shop, dome and tower of the Spanish-inspired shopping and entertainment district. Lavishly decorated store windows, horse-drawn carriages and carolers provide the perfect holiday backdrop. (Thanksgiving-Jan. 13)
Plaza Shopping
Shoppers will recognize fine stores like Anthropologie and Tiffany & Co. Original Kansas City stores like Halls and Tivol give local flavor to the Plaza’s reputation as a national fashion center. Pleasant surprises can be found along each block – from tiny shoe boutiques to delicious chocolatiers, couture clothiers, stylish salons and fine jewelry.
Plaza Dining
Contemporary American to Kansas City steaks, authentic Italian to cosmopolitan Mexican are all a part of the Plaza experience. Whether it’s the hot spot that caters to the late crowd or a quiet courtyard café, the Plaza restaurants offer an atmosphere that no other district can duplicate.
Plaza Events
The Plaza is kept lively with a year-round calendar of music and special events, including the famous Plaza Lights and the widely recognized Plaza Art Fair, ranked among the top five art fairs nationally.
Outdoor Dining
The picturesque views of the Spanish influenced background entice Plaza visitors to 18 outdoor dining venues. Classic Cup offers a sidewalk café and a courtyard patio shaded by colorful umbrellas. Baja 600’s flowering patio adds California flavor to traditional Mexican favorites. The newest restaurant, Brio Tuscan Grille, offers the best view of The Plaza from its terrace.
Live Music
The Plaza isn’t just shopping and dining. Some of the area’s finest musicians grace the Plaza with their lively tunes. Catch a variety of music, from jazz to reggae to classical, at a number of establishments throughout the Plaza any night of the week. From May through September, enjoy live music in the Plaza’s charming courtyards during the annual concert series.

Taking a carriage ride while the Christmas lights are up is a breath taking and moving experience. Its not Christmas until you've taken the leisurly ride from a huge fuzzy draft horse through the lights, art, and achitecture. It can't be reproduced by walking or driving it!

Being new to the KC area I'm so captivated by the spirit and beauty of the city. Especially at night time events such as the WaterFire walk along Brush Creek. Although many kids were enjoying the hot chocolate by the bon fires on the creek, my husband and I enjoyed a night without our kids. It was so beautiful and relaxing walking along the waterfire while still in the midst of the city lights. I must not forget to mention Houston's, one of my favorite restaurants, was serving their best food and drinks! I love this city!

We love to take walks through the Plaza on a crisp fall night. The smells of all the wonderful restaurants fill the air, and there are always plenty of local artist on the corners sharing their music. Then there are the fountains. You can just sit and watch the water dance for hours.

The Country Club Plaza was within walking distance of our hotel and we're so glad it was! It was so beautiful to stroll the shops, see the fountains and sculptures, and dine in the restaurants. There was ample, close, free parking and it was buzzing during the day into the night.

Kansas City is full of surprises, you never know what may happen from weekend to weekend. I was on a late night walk with my girlfriend around the plaza and we saw the fountain in front of Eddie Bauer. But we noticed something different about it. The fountain had bubbles coming out! It was really remarkable and made a memorable experience we won't soon forget.

Kansas City is said to have more fountains than any city except Rome, and they make a great background for photos. This is me and my husband in front of the InterContinental Hotel on the Country Club Plaza. It's hard to see, but there's a big fountain behind us!

I love Kansas City because it embraces art from all around the world as exampled by the showing in Mill Creek Park. If the J.C. Nichols fountain is not enough and the Nelson Atkins Museum is not enough, we fly an entire exhibit in from England. Bravo KC.
