Sporting Kansas City, formerly the Kansas City Wizards, of Major League Soccer play at the city's newest sports venue; Sporting Park. Sporting Park is a state-of-the-art stadium that seats 18,500 soccer spectators and features a canopy roof that covers every seating section and includes a 2,016-square-foot HD video board on the south end and a 550-square-foot HD video board on the north end.
On the field, Peter Vermes has stepped into the Manager role, combining Technical Director and Head Coaching duties. Vermes added several newcomers to a team looking to get back to the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Ownership group OnGoal's commitment to the Sporting Kansas City and to Kansas City had its first physical manifestation in June 2007 when a new, world-class training center opened in Swope Park.
