Boom in the Bottoms
Get ready to experience a star-spangled spectacle as the Historic West Bottoms gears up for a post-Independence Day bash during the First Friday Weekend, July 4-6. Themed Boom in the Bottoms, this event promises to keep the patriotic spirit soaring high.
The West Bottoms is known for its rich history, boasting majestic 19th-century multistory buildings that now house charming retail stores. These shops are stocked with unique, limited-quantity items, each carrying its own tale — from décor and furnishings to apparel.
As shoppers explore the 13 blocks of the Historic 12th Street Bridge West Bottoms District, the air will resonate with the sounds of patriotic melodies. Speakers will blast beloved tunes, while live musicians, including horn players and a grand piano, add to the festive atmosphere.
Locally owned businesses in the West Bottoms are ready for a boom in business. The West Bottoms district spokesperson, Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, shared, “Shop owners in the district go all out with patriotic themes, creating a special ambiance. We’ve added photo ops, and the Full Moon bars outside are perfect for quenching any thirst.”
The West Bottoms Historic Entertainment District, located just off the 12th Street Bridge, has 22 warehouses in a thirteen-block area with approximately 600 vendors and more than 30 stores and restaurants. Its large, multistory buildings have histories dating back more than 130 years. These repurposed, vast spaces form the largest indoor vintage entertainment district year-round. The West Bottoms is the destination for interior decorators, designers, collectors, and consumers making unique, quality finds for home, décor, style, and gift options with history and patina that cannot be replicated. westbottoms.com
