Pretty Buildings of Kansas City is an architectural walking tour, utilizing the free KC Streetcar. We'll start inside Union Station, one of the most iconic buildings in Kansas City, to hear the story of how close it came to being torn down in the 1990s. Along the streetcar line, we’ll focus on buildings with design elements from the beaux arts, art deco, and modern eras. You’ll hear stories about the architects and their inspirations. Our final stop brings us to Kansas City’s first skyscraper, built in 1890 in the Italianate Renaissance style, whose original elevator was steam powered. This is a fun outing with minimal walking.
