Upcoming Dates and Topics:

March 20: The Science of Getting Tipsy
Presenter: Elizabeth Neilson, PhD UMKC

A special discussion on how alcohol affects behavior and current research on reducing consequences of alcohol use.
The discussion will focus on the research examining how alcohol influences our behavior, particularly our willingness to engage in risky behaviors when we typically would not. The discussion will also focus on the research-supported interventions that help folks change their drinking behaviors so they experience the “positive” aspects of drinking while minimizing the negative.

April 17: Volcanic Explosions
This discussion will cover some of the basics on how volcanoes work, why they are where they are, and how beer and volcanoes are alike. Speaker Alison Graettinger will then expand on some experiments that use molten lava to help us understand our planet and improve our volcano safety plans. There will be time to discuss whatever volcano current events are happening and where to get your own live volcano updates.

May 15: Brewing Inclusivity: Sharing Insights from the 2025 KC LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment
