Lighting the Downtown KC skyline is an opportunity to share a feeling of unity and community across the Kansas City area while also featuring Kansas City as a premier destination.  

Common lighting requests include major sporting events, citywide celebrations and holidays. Public awareness campaigns for health and safety initiatives and other causes are considered on a case-by-case basis. 

Your organization must have a direct connection to the city of Kansas City, and the person who submits the request must be an official staff member of the local organization.  

Requests must be submitted via Visit KC’s online form at least 3 weeks before the desired lighting date. Please include your single preferred date and colors when completing the form.   

Visit KC has sole discretion when reviewing Downtown Kansas City lighting requests. We aim to reply to your request within one week. 

If approved, Visit KC only invites Downtown properties to participate. Each building has its own policies, schedule and makes its own decision about participation.
