42nd Annual Kid's Fishing Derby
Event
Kids ages 2 to 15 show off their angling skills at this fun-filled family event. The first 200 will receive a free fishing pole from Pure Fishing. Activities include casting clinics, fishing demonstrations, and prizes for the top three heaviest fish in each age category: ages 6 and under, ages 7 to 10, and ages 11 to 15.
Sheep Shindig

Come join us at Missouri Town Living History Museum for Sheep Shindig on May 3rd from 9am- 4pm. Enjoy a day filled with family fun, games, crafts and music! Learn about 19th century wool production from sheep to shawl!. Watch our flock receive their annual shearing, try your hand at spinning and weaving, and watch out interpreters demonstrate the wool making process from sheep shearing to carding and beyond. You’ll even be able to purchase the fleeces produced by our flock!

Join us for a day of fun and discovery with food, music, storytelling, games, and crafts inspired by the past. Experience life on the wild frontier in the early 1800’s. Whether you’re exploring history or enjoying the festivities, there is something for everyone.

Join us on July 4th from 9am- 4pm at Missouri Town Living History Museum for our Independence Day event. Celebrate the birth of our nation in true Victorian Fashion! Enjoy the music, crafts and games of yesteryear in our historic village. Pack a picnic lunch and relax on our rolling lawn, go for a stroll through town, enjoy freshly made ice cream, and learn how our country's independence was celebrated in the mid-1800s from our living history interpreters.

Food on the Missouri Frontier

On September 13th from 9am- 4pm, make your way to Fort Osage National Historic Landmark for our Food on the Missouri Frontier event. Enjoy the sights and smells of history in the making! See live demonstrations of hearth cooking, as well as food preservation and preparation techniques from the early 1800s. Walk through our heirloom garden on one of our garden tours to see how fruits and vegetables have changed over time. Learn how the soldiers and civilians of Fort Osage preserved food for the long winter and take home recipe cards for some of our favorite historic foods.
49th Annual Fall Festival of Arts, Crafts & Music

Missouri Town Living History Museum is your destination for Fall Fun! Come join us from 10am- 5pm on October 4th and 5th for our 49th Annual Fall Festival of Arts, Crafts and Music. Explore the sights and sounds of the harvest season in the mid-1800s at this popular two-day festival. Living history interpreters in period attire, along with artisans, musicians and crafters, will highlight different aspects of life in the fall of the mid-1800s. Check out our lost arts area where vendors show skills from a bygone era.

Who let the DOGS out? Join more than 3,000 dogs and dog lovers for a doggone good time at the Kemper Outdoor Education Center! Explore more than 75 booths featuring everything from pet photos and pet supplies to pet sitters and rescue. Take part in contests like Best Trick, Best Kisser, Best Tail-wagger, Best Biscuit Eater, Dog/Owner Look-alikes, and the always-popular Halloween Costume Contest! Participate in Gunny Sack Races, Bobbing for Biscuits, Musical Discs and more! It's FUN for your dogs... FUN for their pets (that would be YOU!)...
A Christmas Celebration

Experience the holidays with the music, décor and foods of the mid-1800s in rural Missouri. Enjoy historic cooking, caroling and music throughout the village. The Victorian era gave rise to many of the Christmas traditions we think of today. Crafts, decorations, historic demonstrations, and holiday traditions are all on display at Missouri Town’s Christmas Celebration.
